Who We Are

The Dawn of Light and Hope (DOLAH) is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of Kenyan deaf orphans. We believe every child deserves dignity, opportunity, and a loving community, regardless of their circumstances. Our commitment extends not only to children in need, but also to those who answer the call to serve them.

DOLAH’s mission is to advance the rights, safety, education, and well-being of deaf orphans in Kenya through strategic partnerships with community-based organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, and healthcare providers. The organization is committed to strengthening the capacity of mission volunteers and frontline caregivers by providing training, resources, and ongoing support that enhance effective and sustainable service delivery.

Through advocacy and collaborative action, DOLAH works to expand access to quality education, protective care, and inclusive opportunities for deaf orphans, including the development of schools, colleges, and safe rescue centers for children affected by abuse, neglect, or social exclusion.

Mission Statement

Who We Serve

DOLAH focuses on the needs of deaf orphans in Kenya, especially those who face neglect, abuse, or exploitation. We also stand beside mission volunteers, caregivers, educators, and organizations dedicated to their well-being, striving to create a network of hope, empowerment, and support.

Our Programs

  • Educational Initiatives: We advocate for using deaf educational methods and certified deaf interpreters to ensure post-secondary education opportunities for deaf orphans graduating from Kenyan secondary deaf schools and help deaf orphans develop the skills to thrive in society. We also offer training and educational support for volunteers working in the field.

  • Medical and Health Support: DOLAH addresses medical needs and ongoing care for deaf children. Volunteers receive guidance and resources for supporting medical and health initiatives.

  • Rescue Operations: We are establishing a rescue center to intervene in cases of neglect, abuse, or exploitation, ensuring deaf orphans find safety and nurturing environments. DOLAH also supports mission volunteers in rescue efforts, equipping them with the tools and assistance they need.

Advocacy

DOLAH actively collaborates with the Kenyan government and local communities to advocate for the rights and welfare of deaf orphans. We also advocate for the needs of volunteers, helping shape supportive policies and enhance effectiveness in the field. Our work builds a future where every child and every volunteer is valued and supported.
