Who We Are
The Dawn of Light and Hope (DOLAH) is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of Kenyan deaf orphans. We believe every child deserves dignity, opportunity, and a loving community, regardless of their circumstances. Our commitment extends not only to children in need, but also to those who answer the call to serve them.
Our mission is to empower and equip mission volunteers (those who work directly with deaf orphans) to support, protect, and uplift Kenyan deaf orphans through partnership with service organizations, government entities, education institutions, and medical providers. DOLAH is devoted to enabling these volunteers with resources and ongoing support, ensuring they can carry out their vital work effectively and sustainably. We advocate for these children’s rights and partner with those who serve them, guaranteeing a brighter future for all.
Mission Statement
Who We Serve
DOLAH focuses on the needs of deaf orphans in Kenya, especially those who face neglect, abuse, or exploitation. We also stand beside mission volunteers, caregivers, educators, and organizations dedicated to their well-being, striving to create a network of hope, empowerment, and support.
Our Programs
Educational Initiatives: We advocate for using deaf educational methods and certified deaf interpreters to ensure post-secondary education opportunities for deaf orphans graduating from Kenyan secondary deaf schools and help deaf orphans develop the skills to thrive in society. We also offer training and educational support for volunteers working in the field.
Medical and Health Support: DOLAH addresses medical needs and ongoing care for deaf children. Volunteers receive guidance and resources for supporting medical and health initiatives.
Rescue Operations: We are establishing a rescue center to intervene in cases of neglect, abuse, or exploitation, ensuring deaf orphans find safety and nurturing environments. DOLAH also supports mission volunteers in rescue efforts, equipping them with the tools and assistance they need.
Advocacy
DOLAH actively collaborates with the Kenyan government and local communities to advocate for the rights and welfare of deaf orphans. We also advocate for the needs of volunteers, helping shape supportive policies and enhance effectiveness in the field. Our work builds a future where every child and every volunteer is valued and supported.
